Michael McLaughlin's Story

Michael McLaughlin went from being homeless to attending the MBA program at Washington University in St. Louis on a full academic scholarship. Abused as a child (Michael bears a scar on his face from when his mother knocked him unconscious with a lamp), Michael grew up without knowing who his father was. After the court system removed him from his home at age 16 following the abuse, Michael struggled to make it on his own. He lived for a time in a car, in a camper with no heat, and even in a storage shed. Throughout his struggles, Michael never gave up on his education. He obtained two master’s degrees, won multiple university and national awards, and received his CPA. Michael has shared his story with multiple organizations and has been featured on KSDK and Fox2News. His story has been featured in the press and in the video entitled “Michael’s Story” produced by the Family Resource Center. Michael’s goal is to inspire others to believe that they too can achieve their dreams in spite of any obstacles they may face.
